Description

I main mono-purple and I do have to say the recent Terragon, Racer in Shadow, and Sword Saint nerf was devastating. Despite that, mono-purple gained some buffs especially the Thriving Shade stat buff. She has become an auto include in my decks now. Here is what has been consistent to me so far after many ranked games with mono-purple this season.

Combos with the deck:

Re:Spawn + Thriving Shade or Vixen:

  • Re:Spawn is a super flexible card that I found is most effective on Thriving Shade. It gives her a second chance to get the +2/+2 when stealth if she is disrupted or dies which puts pressure on your opponent to use a second removal card on her because a 6/7 stuck on the board is no joke. Also great on Vixen because she can recycle spirit minions and she has deadly which multiplies her value instantly.

Shinobi of Smoke + Hotel Barkeep:

  • Hotel Barkeep's item allows for a free impel which can then be use on shinobi of smoke to snipe a minion. Make sure to play Shinobi of Smoke before Hotel Barkeep

Nine-tailed Vixen + Shinobi of Smoke and Thriving Shade:

  • Vixen allows you to recycle your spirit minions from the graveyard back into hand. Its super strong having a Thriving Shade back into your hand again.

Thriving Shade + Spiteful Mimic:

  • The stealth tactic to add in some mind games to your strategy.

Jin-Sook Doll, Dollmaster + Perfect Grade, Master of Shadows, or Pentacle of Flavors:

  • Jin-Sook's lane shifting can be devastating with these cards as they allow for almost multi-instant removal by bundling all enemy minions to the side of the board where you have these cards stationed.

Merciless Koxinga + Racer in Shadow:

  • The Born in Cruelty spell allows for an instant removal with the follow up of a Racer.

Items:

  • Don't be afraid to use them, but mainly use them on your 3 drop minions and up.

Strength:
This deck's strategy is to play slowly until you end up exhausting their resources or overpower them which you then push for the win. The core offensive card of this deck revolves around Thriving Shade as it will be the earliest major threat to your opponent. Putting your opponent in a situation where they either need to stop the +2/+2 or leave it be just in case its a Spiteful Mimic is a great tool to attract opponent removal and minions. If they do end up using removal on it, that's one less removal spell to worry about. Shinobi of Smoke is useful for sniping or maintaining control of the board. Vixen can recycle them back for even more pressure which also directly reduces the number of removal spells they have which sets you up for a higher chance of safely playing expensive Mythic minions to push for the win.

Flexibility of the Mythic Cards

  • Jin Sook = control
  • Merciless Koxinga = control and artifact counter
  • Masters of Shadow = ultimate blocker
  • Celestial Dragon = ultimate finisher and healer with biting blade item
  • Daigoju = damage and removal without the need to attack
  • Perfect Grade = single and multi removal

Weakness:

  • Aggro decks are going to be able to disrupt the stealth quite easily and have a higher chance of taking board control before you. Purple is inherently weak against aggro because they have conditional multi-removal such as needing a minion in order to use Pentacle of Flavors as opposed to a Thunderclap. Ways I found to combat this is with Battle Chef's item and Re:Spawn as they will help your minions stick to the board.

  • Impel is quite expensive because of the recent nerf it received but that is why we have Hotel Barkeep.
