Description

A variation of my deck from the Gem Wars tournament, this deck plays 41 cards because I simply don't know what I'd remove to get it to 40. I've been playing Mono Orange for a long time now, and this is my favorite version of my Skulls deck from the Gem Wars tournament.

Some tips:

– Burn enchantments as much as possible to maximize free card draw, but try to have at least one out for Mardykhor by turn 5.

– Mardykhor is one of the strongest cards in the deck. He can do so damn much. Avoid burning any of him if you have other options.

– Desertification Engine is really solid. He flies around creating deserts and blocks like a champ.

– Do not cut any Eager Recruits. It is essential to have on turn 1 against aggro, and going from 4 to 3 reduces your chance of having one in your opening hand from 55% to 45%.

– Shadhavar Beast is, as you may have noticed, completely broken. Having one on turn 3 (or 2 with the coin) is a very solid step toward winning in many matchups.

– Scion is one of the best cards in the deck. He can remove any threat and doubles as extra pressure if you use his transform ability offensively on one of your smaller minions.

– Save Seal of Exile for the 7RR board flood against red.

– Radiant Vessel has some great uses because his strength can be buffed so high. He can take out huge threats, or you can pair him with Dire Benediction for a massive burst of damage. Just remember to burn a card AFTER you buff him up, not before; otherwise you can't cast Dire Benediction on the same turn.

– Temptation is the Leeroy Jenkins of Mythgard. It finishes so many games, it's crazy. Take your time and think about your options if you're close to threatening lethal with Temptation. Sometimes it's okay to take a big hit if you can take the game on the following turn.

– Remember that Thieves' Bazaar affects the lane in front of it even when it is unoccupied.

– Don't be afraid to use Dark Passenger to clear small, sticky minions like Thane if you're up against a faster deck and don't have a good alternative way of getting rid of him.

– Remember that the middle desert spawned from Sandscape has a cost of 2, and the two adjacent deserts have a cost of 1. This is important when overriding them with other enchants because of Rainbow's mana-back mechanic.

I got to Mythril with this variation, winning 11 out of the last 13 games. It is a really strong deck.
